Drove a sack up from Tony's on thursday, got to Va on Friday afternoon, had to delay boil because of rain. We're gonna plan to boil Sunday.
I have them in four separate ice chests with ice and a little bit of water, I think I may have put a little bit to much ice.. But im trying to keep em between 30-40 degrees till tomorrow afternoon/evening, y'all think I'm good? Im gonna throw some more ice tonight just to keep them cool overnight. Tia

Crawfish kept too cold for too long will die. I would try to keep them cool/cold but don't overdo it with ice.

Regardless, if you bought them Thursday and don't plan to cook them until sunday, you will have some dead ones. Maybe up to 5lbs a sack or so depending on how old they were when you got them. Then again, you might not have much depends. Just depends on the crawfish really. I have had them last a week and only got a couple pounds of dead before.

As Jason said, get rid of the water ASAP. Put the sack in an ice chest, drape an old towel over it, and put a sack of ice on top. Crack the lid and repeat before you go to sleep.

They are out of the sack, I put them in the the little bit of water mostly to try to purge them as much as possible.

I guess I could always put them back in the sack, but they seem content in the four separate ice chest (just wanted to spread em out). I'll drain when this batch of ice melts and then just put a little bit of ice on before bed.

I few of the small ones were DoA, but besides for that they are looking ok. My dad said we should out them in a trap and put them in the creek up here, I didn't agree but it sounds like a interesting idea.

Thanks for the advice fellas

I'm not sure but think that would kill them off. If you do that you better put something in the trap to keep them busy eating.

Father knows best.

I've kept them alive and in a cooler for 4 days. Put a little bit of crushed ice on them daily.

As others said, definitely drain off any water.

There's really no way to know how old they were when you bought them from Tony's

you should have left them in the sack

next time, get you a burlap sack .. put two 20LB bags of ice in the sack and lay it on top of the live crawfish still in their sack .. the ice will keep them cool enough and the melt off drips through the burlap and keeps them moist .. keep good ice in that sack at all times and you can keep them alive for 24 to 48 hours believe it or not .. also, be sure to keep them in the shade .. also, be sure to poke holes in the ice bags with a knife ..
