I have been asked to fry fish for a small get together Saturday and was wondering how many pounds of catfish filet will be sufficient for 10-12 adults.

Catching the fish or buying?

If catching, the trick is to just catch as many as you can. If you don't have enough, you up the french fries, hushpuppies, and sides.

I've had to use that trick more often than I would like to admit.

1/2 lb per person should be good.

5-6 should be plenty assuming it’s not teenage boys or a bunch of big men.

Last time I did a fish fry for 100, I planned on 1/2 pound each and had leftovers.

But with a smaller group, you might have a few heavier eaters and having leftovers isn’t a bad thing. So the 6-7 pounds suggestion is right on target I think.

We host a Christmas fish fry for 20-25 people and buy 1/2 lb per person. Usually have leftovers.

Crisp up those leftovers a little in the air fryer and make a sandwich. I might like that as much as fresh fried.
