Might want to read this thread and consider how many men, women, children you're feeding and have more sides than just corn and potatoes.

And for Christ's sake, leave the heads on!

I'd boil 200 if my shrimp boiling rep was on it.

Wedding shower 50/50 men/women. I dont want to run out. Headless is dumb but that is what they want. Serving potatoes/corn.

I'd say 50-100 lbs at a minimum, but 200 lbs sounds more like it. Shrimp is one of those things that I've never gotten to work right for large groups, mainly because it's just too expensive and people can scarf down some shrimp, so it can be hard to gauge. Even at a half pound a person (which I don't think would be enough) you're looking at 50 pounds of shrimp.
Still 50-100, but 200 would be better. People aren't going to load up with three potatoes and five shrimp. They're gonna hit the shrimp fast and they're gonna hit the shrimp hard.
Don't do this. Boiled shrimp need their heads. They get lonely without them.
EDIT: Wait, where is this shrimp being boiled? I'd expect the shrimp to go way farther in North Dakota than in South Louisiana.

Sounds more like a grin off and not the shrimp boil I had envisioned. I'd boil 100 and take any leftovers home.

Nothing wrong with boiling headless. Shrimp are going to taste the same.
I would recommend about 50-70lbs. Headless are mostly meat so whatever you buy will be 90+% meat. If you go with 8oz's a person that would be about 55lbs of headless. So adjust from there if you want more or less.

What he said, but with the heads, I get to suck them. And that makes them more better.

No way in hell they taste the same. Don't y'all suck the heads? It's the best part.

80 lbs should be good. Unless you doing a post Marathon Shrimp boil then boil 120 lbs.
ETA. I boil headless shrimp (I buy ice chest at a time and freeze them that way) twice a month or so and they taste fine.

I usually at least get a free meal before someone asks me if I suck the head.

Wow.
I'd say about 2#'s per person and it also depends on size.

If you're pulling the heads off yourself, maybe you could help fill people up by frying up some shrimp spiders, too.
