I know it will vary, but roughly how many ounces would an average chicken breast be? I'm talking about the ones that come in like 3 or 6 packs such as Tyson and are around the size of a small hand.

Take the total weight in ounce, divide by number of chicken breasts.

Huge range, but all protiens are getting bigger. Between Breeding and feed, the producers make more money by selling bigger animals.

Here's a tip: Got to your local foodservice distributor (SYSCO, USF, PFG, BEK) and buy a case of portioned chicken breasts. You can get whatever size you want and they are individually packed. Probably cheaper. Some sell to the public, some don't. Call first.

Best answer is to get a cheap arse kitchen scale. I got one from walmarks for like $5. Average chicken breast is 4-6 oz. post-cook

Yeah I'm going to pick up a scale next time I'm at the store. Thing is I'm cooking dinner for the lady tonight so I don't have time to make another trip.

I'm going to assume they are 5 oz each. Thanks for the help guys!
