I have been to a couple of places with an oyster challenge, and I have often wondered how difficult is this challenge. You know the type, beat the record of XX dozen oysters, get your name on the wall and the meal is free, if not... pay up.

Latest one I saw was a place in Pensacola called Wintzell's. The current record was 34 or 35 dozen, I don't remember the exact number. I was just thinking, that the task did not seem that arduous; however, I know better. I am not a competitive eater, and I am at a normal Body mass index (BMI). I freaking love oysters, and I think I could do some damage.

However, the most I have ever eaten at one time is only 5 dozen.

Were you hurting at 10/11? Would another 20+ seem impossible?

I don't think I could make it through 1 dozen raw oysters. I much prefer mine cooked. Now fried I could eat a shite load.

They're sort of like potato chips...you can't just have one. I don't think I've ever had just one dozen of oysters.

If we're talking physically possible, I'd say i could eat maybe 16 dozen. What I've actually done and would not feel comfortable doing any more is 9 dozen.

I couldn't eat 15 dozen raw because even though I love oysters I need a cracker some hot sauce and lemon to eat them. I love them that way, but not plain. So the additional crackers would kill me.

I think I could go to town on charbroiled though. I think I could get close to 15 because they mass shrinks in the broiling and I love the hell out of those. Only problem is I would still sop up the juice with bread and never finish.

Someone give me $300.00 bucks and I'll go try.

Most I have had in one sitting is probably around 6 dozen. Wasn't trying to set any records, just like oysters. I imagine I could down quite a few though, don't eat mine with crackers so I would not fill up on those.

Nine years and ten months ago, my father in law and I ate ten dozen each at Felixs. I have a nine year old daughter. Good oysters. I got laid.

I pulled the same stunt with a box of Popeye's chicken from Houma after a decent fishing trip 16 years ago. Almost named my son Jesus since it was damn near an immaculate conception.

So does Popeyes put the proverbial lead in the pencil as well?

I think 4 dozen might be my best effort.
But I was not shooting for a record and plenty of beers were consumed as well..

Also been my experiance that most oysters served around the Florida Panhandle are those little puny oysters.
