The recipe calls for a 1 inch piece of peeled minced ginger

I bought a tube of ginger paste (I think it’s called). How much should I use to replace the 1 inch piece?

It should tell you on the tube but just sorta squeeze it out and if it looks about like a one inch piece of thumb sized ginger, you're good. "Thumb sized" tends to be the measurement. 1 inch of thumb sized, i would say is about 2 tsp of paste.

I cook with ginger alot. You can over do it but it's reasonably forgiving.

I wanted to give an OT lunch thread response but resisted.

Should be a teaspoon to teaspoon equivalent.

Teaspoon or 2 should be fine.

I’ve done the same thing and seem to remember seeing a conversion online somewhere. 1”=1 tablespoon maybe?

The paste isn’t as potent as the fresh, so you need more.

That's a good point. Go with a little more.
