the wife absolutely hates the donut-style king cakes from here and much prefers DP or keller's in lafayette.

I fricking love meche's though, grew up with it, and have a real fondness of this type of king cake.

so yay or nay?

While I do agree it is a great donut...it is not a great king cake.

I love 'em. Not a king cake but who cares they're awesome.

Keller's is amazing!

However, who doesn't love a giant donut? If I were buying a king cake, it would be Kellers, but I wouldn't turn down a piece of Meche's

I mean, I like donuts...

I prefer Kellers, but I'm not turning my nose up at Meche's.

Living out of state, I would much prefer a traditional king cake at the moment. When I lived in Louisiana and there were sales reps dropping off traditional king cakes twice a week for two months, I would have liked a donut king cake for some variety.

I wouldn’t make a special trip to Lafayette to get one. But I wouldn’t turn down a piece if offered or available

Meche’s is terrible in general. The donut tastes like a sponge soaked in grease and the chocolate they put on the donuts is nasty. Place is so overrated.

So is a king cake a great cinnamon roll?

I'd probably prefer that over a traditional king cake
