I'm going to be in Olathe all next week for work. I've never been to K.C. I'd expect good BBQ, but does anyone else have a recommendation?
TIA
TIA

This likely won't help and the place is probably gone. It is just off I-35 in an old Pizza Hut type of 80's era fast food. It is a Mexican Buffet!!!!
All you can eat buffet of Mexican food. Was pretty good and super cheap. I posted mostly so if you can find it, or ask around and get some news on the place. lol.
If it's still there def. hit it up. good luck.
eta: Westport and the Power & Light districts are the party spots. There's a sports bar just north of Downtown called the Quaff that's solid. There used to be a place on Hwy 71 on the south side called "Git-Yo chicken-fish-& grits". Might ask around about that place too, it might have moved, was a soul food type of place.
North of town in Weston, MO is a brewery from the 1840's that's cool as frick. They will make micro batches to your specs and bottle it there, costs about $13-15 a case for your own bottled microbrew, can get em in mini kegs too. They have Irish music in their bar that is about 60 ft underground in the old tank cooling rooms. It's legit and the restaurant serves up european fare.
As for BBQ KC Masterpiece is worth a trip, make sure to get some Boulevard's to wash it down with and put a lemon slice or two in it. Also just down the street and right around the corner is a hole in the wall BBQ spot that I don't recall the name that I thought was better than KC Masterpiece.
Also if you go to the Arts district, there's a spot called Grinder's. One of the owners played in the band GWAR in the 90's, his name is Stretch, he's cool but it's full of hipster douches. They turned the sculpture park into a live music ampitheatre that the fricks that put on Wakarusa book, they usually have really good shows and they used to fly in fresh bread from Philly daily to make their sammiches with.
You can get a Royals ticket for under $10 bucks, they also have a all you can eat and drink party deck area that's a pretty good deal, but you have to go to a Royals game so that is torture.
