I must say that the Church's on Government Street in Baton Rouge is the best Church's franchise of any true fried chicken franchise (excluding Cane's and Chick-fil-A), and it beats any Golden Chick, Popeye's, and KFC as far as competitors go. The owner is heavily involved, and it shows.

I used to love the Church's chicken, but I really liked their seasoned battered fries with the different dipping sauces.

I think they were bought from a private equity group by Rego Restaurant Group, the owners of Quiznos and Taco del Mar, in 2021. This may be part of a marketing push from that acquisition.

If I remember correctly churches was the OG chicken tenders. We had one in Rockport Texas in the early 90s and their tenders were legit. So much better than DQ and Sonic.

I believe Church's still hand batters their chicken tenders today, whereas DQ and Sonic use a pre-battered, frozen chicken tender. Popeye's from my understanding does the same thing as DQ and Sonic, but their quality of chicken fingers is substantially better, which yields a better product.

Church's and Golden Chick chicken tastes almost identical to one another.

Makes sense. I remember at one time liking the steak finger baskets at DQ but they’re prebattered frozen as well. I’m not sure if I grew out of it or if they changed them but they are terrible now. As a matter of fact I don’t really like any of the food from DQ just their ice cream and blizzards.

Church’s chicken pieces are huge. Their thighs are bigger than the breasts they serve at Popeyes.

And their biscuits destroy the crap biscuits at KFC and Popeyes.

Church's on Burbank kept me alive while I was in college. We'd get coupon books in the mail pretty often. There were always 3 or 4 coupons to get a 2 piece (I think, might have been 3) with mashed potatoes and a biscuit for $2.49.

Same here. We used to crush the Churches Chicken on Burbank. It was a staple at the apartment.

Fond memories of going to the Churches just off post at Ft.Sam, buying a five piece box, 6 jalapeño peppers and sitting in the gutter with a bottle of cheap wine to wash down my dinner. Hard to come up with better memories of the good old days. Every chicken place should have a gallon jar of whole jalapeños on the counter by the register- that would make your eyes water when they took the lid off.

I haven't had Church's in years. Is it still super greasy?

Popeyes hand batters all their chicken items

The graphic in the OP is enticing. read the small print regarding the AUVs tho, and realize the remodel cost prob starts at $500k minimum
