3 Indian places in the same area managed to survive ( takeout) yet rum house. And so many places near campus open and close

I think that is the worst place

I don’t know anything, but I assume the owners of Bay Leaf are already wealthy and it’s just there as either a passion project or a way to funnel money. It’s expensive, huge, waiters in tuxedos, and never really packed. Delicious food though.
Swagat is my current favorite. Delicious every time and it’s family owned and operated so I’m sure their overhead costs are low.

Rum house food was disgusting to say the least. They were hanging on by threads by drinks/brunch. Corona killed that. When you have 5-8 people in there at lunchtime on a Friday consistently, that’s not a good sign

India’s sucks, Bay Leaf seems a little overpriced. I really enjoyed Curry n kabob. Haven’t tried Swagat yet.

Weird. I thought they always seemed packed. Maybe it was the weekend dinner crowd that made it busy.

India's has new management and a new chef they have improved the food quality. Swagat is the best though, lowest price and good food. Bayleaf is pricey but good food.

I miss the old Curry & Kabob buffet. It was small, but well curated. Swagat is really good, probably the best of the bunch.
And why are you surprised that Baton Rouge can support four Indian places? There are a lot of Indian people in town, between the universities, petrochemical plants and hospitals. And a lot of folks who like Indian food.

Hammond Indian gas station is the GOAT

It visually looks terrible, but I could eat India's Palak Gosh every day of the week.

I am just losing my patience waiting for the buffets to come back. If El Magey can have a buffet then so can they. Bay Leaf is my favorite but I’m not paying $18 for one entree that doesn’t even come with rice or naan. Swagat is also really good and better priced. Curry N Kabab was my favorite until they got rid of their buffet totally. They had one person cooking and everything was made to order, took entirely too long to get food. Maybe they’ve worked out those kinks since. India’s is my least favorite by far.

Yes, Indian food in the us is too expensive. 18 for small curry and no rice or naan
