Introducing “hot honey”. Tastes exactly how it sounds. I’ve had it twice. Both on the BLT. It’s very sweet with a kick.

BLT is the best sandwich there. Feel free to disagree.

Never had the BLT.

Italian is very good as in the cheese steak/ Big Kahuna.

You've never had hot honey before? It's not exactly new in the culinary world

Love Jersey Mikes. My favorite fast food sandwich spot. Everything I’ve had there is solid. Been on an Italian kick lately, add pickle, banana peps, pepper relish.

I love that hot pepper relish. One of the Jersey Mike's in town sells it by the jar; I ate it with a spoon.

Hot take. I haven’t. Sounds gross. Most often hear about it on pizza. Pass.

It's legit amazing as a topping on a plain pepperoni pizza.

This is my order, but I do jalapeno instead of banana pepper... I also add pickles

More sugar for the masses. Does the sandwich not have enough calories already?

I didn't even know Jersey Mike's had this. Thought it was only at Lenny's. Will have to try Jersey Mike's and see how it compares. Lenny's is good stuff.

Is that a decision from Blackrock since they recently bought jersey mikes?

I don't like it on pizza either. To each his own though, won't downvote someone for liking it. I love anchovies and most people can't stand them. Back to Jersey MIke's, hope this doesn't up the price to $20/sandwich. To me this place is just too expensive for a fast food sandwich shop. I can get a half/half (oysters/shrimp) from Olde Tyme for less than that.

It is usually pretty damn tasty.

I guess you could call this a hot honey. But the Texas Monthly fried dove recipe is great. LINK

quote:

2 whole doves plucked and gutted (I have been assured, though cannot confirm, that plucking a dove is not difficult)
1 cup buttermilk
kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
2 cups all-purpose flour
oil or lard, for frying
3 tbsp unsalted butter
4 tbsp honey
4 garlic cloves, finely chopped
3 tbsp hot sauce
4 thinly sliced jalapeños
¼ cup fresh herb leaves, such as parsley or marjoram

Lenny’s is a straight up ripoff of Jersey Mike’s. So much so that Jersey Mike’s will go into a failed Lenny’s location and set up shop. JM was franchised 11 years before Lenny’s was launched.

That said, they both have good sandwiches and the CPR (cherry pepper relish) is a damn fine sammich condiment that you don’t see anywhere else.

The Italian and the cheesesteaks are good, and at Mike’s you can get a Cancro Special (no longer on menu but a good sandwich). You can also sub pepperoni for bacon on any sub to mix it up.

Hot honey doesn’t sound good on anything.

I agree...I just don't get the love for hot honey by so many. My wife loves it, but I have never tried it on anything that I thought it made it better. I just don't want "sweet" on my pizza, burgers, wings, etc.

Along the same line, but off topic, any kind of jam doesn't belong on a burger!

I had a pizza that had it and it was a tasty slice.

My dads a beekeeper and I love hot sauce, but it never really occurred to me and has not really since to routinely mix the two. He now sells hot honey himself.

ETA: I'll tell you what is an absolutely under rated sandwich item that both the above use, is shredded lettuce. Any sandwich with lettuce that doesn't have shredded lettuce is simply not as good as if it did have it.
