However, the Baton Rouge location survives!

Joe’s Crab Shack has permanently closed several dozen restaurants without warning, according to several reports.

Consumerist reports that more than 40 Joe’s Crab Shack locations have shut down this month. Ignite Restaurant Group, the restaurant chain’s owner, filed for bankruptcy in June.

Sold and rebought by Landry's within 20 years. Pretty sure Frititta just wants the real estate and not the brand back.

A multitude of reasons. Mainly, people are just drifting away from chains. With the rise of good, locally owned restaurants, chains are finding it hard to compete. With the quality of food, creativity of the menu and service all being superior in most cases, why go to chain?

I wish a top notch seafood restaurant would open where the one was at the end of Lakeshore Dr. in N.O. Prime location with nice views of the lake. It is a shame to waste that location. Too many great restaurants around here to eat at a place with mediocre food.

I guess giving away all those free crabs was more expensive than they imagined.

How is the closing of their restaurants "without warning"? They were in Bankruptcy, if that isn't "warning" enough I don't know what to tell you

Millennials are killing chain restaurants.

And I'm not even kidding.

chains have sat on their arses marketing wise and not innovated to millennials. Starbucks being the exception.

Thats because so many of them still live at home and mommy does the cooking. Combine that with their lower incomes thanks to useless degrees and fast casual is more appealing. It's not that they have better tastes as this is implying.
