I agree. It has a sweet taste to it and it's so good.

They also do a very good brunch over there. Nice place.

Meanwhile, Hamil's was closed during the short time I was in JAN today (between lunch and dinner hours), and the Cherokee was slammed.
Four Cheese Krystals from the North State St. store fixed me up.

Keifer's is another of my favorite spots in Jackson. Good stuff. The fried feta cheese app and gyro's (think that's what they are called) are pretty darn good.

TA, I never knew you knew.

My only gripe is that it's still quite the Ole Miss post frat party...a lot of hot women in Lexuses and a lot of guys who still sport the same haircut and clothes as they did 7 years ago.

Nevertheless, I was vastly impressed with the food. The green beans were so damn good, also. That chicken, though...one of a kind. I'd kill for the recipe.

The bartenders are meh. If you get a table at the bar, they quickly forget about you and your 100 dollar meal + bar tab in order to serve the likes of those who buy a Coors Light and tip a dollar each time. It makes little sense to ignore your better paying customers to serve 3 beers to Robinson or Forrest or Jefferson or any of the other Ole Piss alumns who stand at the bar talking about BCS possibilities.

Ok, enough negativity....I'll be back. Solid, solid meal. I highly suggest a 2.5 hour drive from BR just for it. Ok...that's a stretch, but you get the drift.

Julip and Keifers are both great, and Julip's siter restaurant Mint is located in Ridgeland(north of Jackson) and has great food as well. My cousin is a pastry chef there. Definately check it out if you liked Julips.

Yeah, I heard Mint was a fancier version and just as good. I will give it a go when I go back.

Panda-child #1 is a student there and eats at Keifers all the time - shows up on the old debit card statement!

Loves it!

you know, I couldn't tell you. I've eaten there with her a couple of times when I was in town, and I think she likes a bunch of things on the menu - gyros and salads. I usually get some kind of shrimp thing that dribbles down my chin.

What I know is how often the place shows up on the on-line banking activity statement! I think it's a real favorite.

asked my college student last night and she said pita bread w/ cheese, so maybe the same thing you're loving. said the go-to used to be a chicken gyro but she got tired of it.

Pita mozzerella & lamb gyro with feta with tsetseki (sp?) sauce.

Julep's grits are awesome, but the absolute best thing on the menu is the shrimp toast with buerre blanc sauce.

the chicken is a close second.
