It looks like they are moving into the old Schlotzky's on Johnston. It says specialty meats. What else do they sell besides boudin and cracklins?

Their Turkey roll was great. Also had to he stuffed pork loin, chicken breast, and crab pie. All legit. Looking forward to the Johnston location because the drive to Scott sucks for me.

chicken balls are pretty good

I'll just go ahead and say it - their boudin isn't all that good.

I like the bacon and pork sausage.

I got some and everyone found it to be not very good as well. It tasted nothing like the Krotz Springs location. Don't know if it was just a miss on that date ?

I never go to Billys because I don't want to deal with the lines but Kartchners makes a maple syrup wrap and a jalapeno/cream cheese wrap that are much better than any of the pepperjack variants I've had from any other place. Their stuffed/bacon wrapped pork loins are great, and they make a boudin dip that's really good too.

Kartchners has good frozen/prepared foods as well. Everything I've had has been well done. Gumbo, Sauce Picquante, Etouffee.
Their boudin balls, chicken cracklins, chicken balls, maple syrup boudin eggrolls and boudin dip are good.
Like others, I don't care for their boudin by itself, but it tastes good when combined with other stuff. Maybe because it's too meaty?

Like others have said their boudin is solid but very “meaty” the rice to meat ratio is different than the other place around em
Not a bad thing but not for everyone
The roll ups are fantastic on par if not better than Billy’s, jalapeño cream cheese is a standout imo
Did a turkey roll for thanksgiving and will do again
Glad to have it local

I swear by Best Stop. Recently, coming from Best Stop in Scott, I decided to check out the newer Kartchner's just down the road, so I got to try their boudin side by side. Kartchner's won.

I like their smoked boudin!!

Just saw that the Lafayette location will open on Feb 24th.

Andouille sausage is very good.

I used to love Earl’s boudin, but damn the quality has gone down since the nephew took over. Seems to have gotten exponentially worse the last couple years. I picked up a link of boudin for breakfast a while back, and it was flavorless with crunchy onions and peppers.
Their twice baked potatoes seems to still be on point, and I load up to haul back home to Texas, but if that takes the same turn their boudin, sausage and pre-made burgers have, there won’t be a reason to visit that store ever again.
Johnson’s is fantastic boudin (probably my very, very favorite), but yeah, they don’t offer really anything else in the way of that small corner store specialty meat product. The smoked sausage is average, but priced as if it’s top tier. BBQ sauce is legit.

I had it once about 2 weeks ago, it was way too wet and honestly tasted like someone stuffed it with rice and gravy. Its not what i expect a boudin to taste like at all.
The sausage was pretty good but i find that its ground too fine. But the flavor was there. Boudin balls were very good, which makes no sense because of the boudin.

Kartchner's hog's head cheese is really good. Get you some.

I feel the same way as you do above in regards to Best Stop. Love the boudin balls, but something always seems off to me about the boudin.
I enjoy Kartchner’s boudin. Guess different strokes for different folks.
