LaPlace Andouille - Bailey's or Jacob's?

I gather from posts on this board that most here prefer Jacob's over Bailey's Andouille. I'm just wondering - why?
Personally I prefer Bailey's because it seems to have more smoke flavor and a stronger garlic essence. Jacob's seems more like ham.
Thoughts?

Very similar IMO
I usually buy Jacob's, but I don't think I could tell the difference in a taste test.

I've never had Bailey's...I love to use Jacob's anytime I can.

Jacob's for me.

They are brothers. I believe "Jacob's" left after a dispute between them working together.
At least that is what I heard.
Maybe one further fabricated and made the recipe better?

Did y'all see the Alton Brown show "Feasting on Asphalt" that featured Bailey's? I think the only reason they stopped there was because Jacob's was closed.
It had to be a real coup for Bailey's.
Good for them, because Bailey's always seems to have longer hours.

Other way around I believe. Jacob's has been there 80+ years. Bailey's opened much later, though I think both families claim they are the original. My family has always bought Jacob's.

Bailey's. I would use either, but, my brother and I both went to school with members of the Bailey family, and I like to help out friends.
Can't go wrong either way really.

It's very, very bad. Poor texture...poor flavor. Next to Zummo's, the worst I've ever purchased.

For what it's worth, there is Jacob's on the Airline, and Wayne Jacob's smokehouse on West 5th (which is not actually run by a Jacob now). Maybe that's what your thinking of.

I always get Jacob's and I take my andouille seriously. Although I have stopped at Bailey's a couple of times when Jacob's was closed and it was good too. There is just something I like about buying it from a little wooden shack.
I also never leave without tasso, hogshead cheese, chicken andouille and those little meat sticks.

Me too, except from Bailey's though, and replace boudin for the chicken andouille. In fact, for Christmas this year, my family in Mississippi, Alabama and Texas all got a care package like that.
