I've been looking for any store in Lafayette, LA that sells Leidenheimer poboy bread-no luck. Anyone here have any info to share regarding where to purchase it in or around Lafayette? TIA...

Rouse’s may have it but I love the bread from Poupart’s. I load up when I’m there.

Is this different from the bread he is asking for?

Poupart's poboy bread is similar in texture to Leidenheimer's. If he can't find Leidenheimer's, it's a great substitute. It has a light crispy crust and is light in the middle. It's not like the heavy grocery store French breads. Poupart's is a legit French bakery.

Many Lafayette Poboy places use Langlinais

This is correct and what you'd want to get baked the same day. I wouldn't think anyone is making same day deliveries of Leidenheimer to Lafayette, so anything you'd be getting would automatically be inferior, even if you might marginally favor Leidenheimer.
From what I can recall, Poupart's is a slightly different style (I think they are baked a bit lighter and not quite as crusty), but I can't think of any situation where I'd prefer day-old Leidenheimer to it.

Poupart's is crusty, but it's definitely a bit thinner crust. Works well with poboys when warmed or toasted. I think it holds up better than Leidenheimer if not used the day its baked.

Never understood why good po-boy bread is so hard to find once you cross the basin; often it is some sort of doughy hoggie roll / giant hot dog bun. With all the good food that SW Louisiana has, WTF?

I guess being around the corner from T-Coon's may require a distinction from time to time.

Is that cute little French lady still there? I remember her being quite spunky. I think her name is Louise. Might be the owner's wife.

She died a few years ago. She and her husband were traveling the country in an RV, and she died suddenly.
Their son runs the place now.

Sorry to hear that. I hope they'd had an opportunity to get a good bit of their trip in before she passed away. I always liked seeing her on my visits there.

Amazingly enough there are some places over here in Houston that use Leidenheimers. BBs is one of them. Average place but they will sell you the loaves. Not cheap....$2 for a poboy loaf but if you are jonesing it will scratch the itch.

Stopped there many times on the way home from the camp - the donut place behind the chicken place in that shopping center off of 190... Good stuff - their donuts remind me of the ones Coonie's Bakery in Opelousas used to make when I was growing up back in the day.

They were related somehow. The chocolate donuts are so good.
