Longhorn Steakhouse, Texas Roadhouse, Logan's Roadhouse

Because I've only been to a couple of them when I'm with other people on the road, admittedly over time I get them mixed up. If faced with the choice of one of the three, what are the attributes of each one, or are they all on the same level?

I've never been to the first one. And the other two haven't been since I was a child, but if I recall correctly, Logan's is far below the other two.

Longhorn Steakhouse
Pretty nice atmosphere. Good food and has higher than average chain prices so it keeps out teenagers and such.

Texas Roadhouse
Good steaks and a much more relaxed atmosphere. Eat peanuts and throw the shells on the floor kind of place. Literally.

Never been.

It was probably Texas Roadhouse that I've been at because I remember the peanuts. I also remember being surprised that the meal wasn't half bad. I was expecting sort of a repulsive Applebee's steakhouse experience but I thought the price point and food were good.

Logan's has peanuts on the floor...
Logan's is by far the worst... The other 2 are pretty close IMO

Yeah, Texas Roadhouse does have a lower price point than Longhorn for sure. It has more of a whole family feel to it and is more "redneckish" if you know what I mean. But I enjoy a steak from there from time to time. I wouldn't not recommend it to someone. I wouldn't take an important client there for serious business discussion.

Logan's does have some awesome rolls though... And there's no question about that.

Throwin’ peanut shells on the floor isn’t socially acceptable in most restaurants, or homes for that matter. But, at Texas Roadhouse, heck, we encourage it! It’s just one of the things that makes us America’s favorite family restaurant.

We have a TX Roadhouse here in LC, they cook some good steaks. Only thing I don't like is even after I tell them how I would like it prepared, I have to remind them. If I don't, it almost always comes out well done. I like it med. rare. But other than that, if it's cooked right, it's a good steak.
I went to a Longhorn Steakhouse when I lived in Florida, I liked it a lot. I got the ribs and they were really good.
They were tender but you could pull away from it after the bite, leaving a bite in the rib meat. That's how I like ribs.
Never been to Logan's.

I took a bunch of kids to a Longhorn at an out of town softball tournament. It was good.
Never been to TR.
Went to a Logan's about 15 or more years ago. I can only recall good hot rolls.

Texas Roadhouse is great for what it is

Logan's was the first waiting table job I ever had when I was 19. The clientele is what you would expect as were the managers, trashy dirt bags. Luckily, most of the servers were students at LSU so never a dull moment at post work get parties on the weekend.
The steaks were actually decent when I worked there over a decade ago, never frozen and cut fresh daily. I have not been in years but I'm sure they have not up there game much.

I'd say Longhorn and Texas Roadhouse are both very good for the money. I don't know how anyone could expect more when you're paying $20-$25 for a 16+ oz. ribeye, 2 sides (or soup/salad), and all you can eat rolls.
Personally, I'd rather go out less and eat at Ruth's, Mr. John's, etc... But I won't complain if someone else chooses either of the above, especially Longhorn. Their 18 oz. bone-in ribeye is $24 well spent IMHO.
ETA-I've only been to TR twice and both times I ordered the ribeye.

That's me, I'd rather just grill steak at home than go to one of these places. Not that they are bad, but I can do just as good if not better even.
I'd rather save up and go to a place that ages their steaks and isn't a chain preferably.

I had a friend that liked to eat at these places. When I found out I unfriended him.

I prefer Longhorn to the other two.

I don't frequent any of them, but have eaten at each of them at one time or another. Longhorn would be the best of the bunch with Logan's bringing up the rear.

I have never understood the appeal of throwing peanut shells on the floor. When I was 16 it was a novelty at Ruby Red's, now it just looks low rent and dirty, and I am no anal neat freak.
We've hit Logan's a few times when traveling in Alabama, it's an excellent choice there. It's alright for a dirty place with trash on the floor. Had a steak last time, memorable, but not in a good way.
