My mother cooked a fantastic cornbread dressing. Of course she did it from memory and did not have a written recipe. I've cooked CB dressing a couple times trying to copy what I saw her do, but I haven't liked the outcome.

I'm sure there's some good dressing recipes to be shared so please post your favorite one.

Thanks

Here's a recent thread that may help.

Cornbread dressing recipes can be like gumbo in that they vary a good bit. Some have meats and some don't. Some have eggs and some don't. Some have a liver dressing and some don't.

If you can describe your mother's more specifically, someone may have something close to it.

I would call it a traditional southern dressing. No liver, no ground meat, some chopped boiled egg, etc. I do remember she would do her taste test and get it like she wanted before she added raw egg.

Raw egg was added at the very end, after tasting to make sure it was seasoned as needed. She would taste, add this or that if needed until she was happy with the taste, then add a couple raw eggs, then bake.

I've not heard of that before. Did she bake cornbread before making the dressing as well?

Yes. She would bake the CB the day before.
