I hope he's OK. I know he had health problems. I generally always enjoyed his posts.

Deleted. Someone's attempt at humor was wasted on me.

Who pissed him off this time???

He had some great contributions (chicken parmigiana florintine is my favorite), but he has always been thin skinned, hope he is doing well and eating some peas and cornbread tonight

MD and I exchanged some emails in the past, so I know his real name. A search turned up no obits, but I don't see any recent internet presence either. Hope he's OK.

Called a loose burger in Detroit and served in a hotdog bun under chili sauce. Very good.

At home I make this, it's pretty easy. The sauce is great!

Brown up some hamburger with diced onions a few dashes of worcestershire and salt and pepper and you have maid rites. Simple and good.

I don't really care for sloppy Joe's but this

doesn't make it sound better

Today I learned that Detroit called a chili dog a "loose meat sandwich".

Sounds a little like a chopped cheese, which is apparently a popular NY city bodega sammich.

The best loose meat sandwiches are at the Broussard/St. Cecilia community fair every fall. Loose meat on fresh Evangeline Maid bread!

Googled this. Mayor wasn't giving away any tips or hints about a recipe.

I keep reading this as moose meat sammich which sounds a lot better than loose meat. Don’t lose your meat

My maternal great grandmother and grandmother and my mother and my aunts have been fixing loose meat sandwiches as long as I remember. They are from the St Martinville area, but I don't think it's considered Cajun.

My 89 year old mother still fixes one for me occasionally.

She sometimes mixes the ground chuck with skinless hot sausage.

Finally got around to this last night. I enjoyed it. Wife didn’t like it (shocker). I wouldn’t mind trying MD’s chow mein version next time.

Yep. Buddy of mine is from there and had to go back to bury his mother recently. I called the local florist, Edd btw, and ordered flowers for the service. Whenever I call places like that, I always ask what is the one thing I should do if I ever came there. The florist said I needed to go to the Canteen and get a loose meat sandwich!
