Went last night. Still hard to beat. Marinated Crab Claws, the Crab and Corn Bisque are two of my favorite starters!

I haven't been in LA for almost a decade, but took my Dad there for his birthday 10+ years ago and it was fantastic. Glad it's still going strong.

One of my favorite places to eat

The filet tourneados is an incredible dish, and the fish in the bag (even though the fish is never usually anything better than drum) is fantastic.
Their BBQ pineapple shrimp appetizer is fantastic as well.

I had a similar experience recently, going to LaL and having a wonderful fish dinner (black drum) with great service.
Several years ago, when the place was getting rave reviews, I'd go ever so often and be unimpressed. Then the menu was far too ambitious, and I thought the food wasn't well prepared. Service was pretentious... spilling the drink order was a house specialty.
Obviously, they have solved all their problems and are on my short list of places to eat.

Had a great meal there last time I was in town (TN game, sucked!)
At that time, it needed a refresh inside. Very dated.

I don't think the menu has changed in 15 years, so you'll probably still find it lacking. In fact, that's the one knock I have against the LL, they could use a menu update. I like many of the dishes they have, but after 30+ years something new to try would be welcome.
Still one of my favorites in town, never had a service problem that I can remember.

Is the one in Destin the same restaurant, just in Destin? Or two totally different outfits with the same name?

Same owners, or they were. Not sure if they still have a stake in the Destin restaurant.

Every time I go there, it's packed. But they get folks in and out. A change in menu, why change something that's working. What if they take off something you like?

It’s still a great place. Why would you want it to change? It’s great.
The owner moved from BR to Destin decades ago and opened up LL. Then one opened in Orange Beach. Then he sold it to a restaurant group and opened one himself in BR.
Not sure how that worked out but they aren’t affiliated from what I understand.

LL is the best restaurant in the city. So good and so consistent. Love that they take reservations now because i would wait in the bar for a couple hours on busy nights to be seated. And didn’t mind doing it.
