Mansur's, Juban's or other in Baton Rouge

I haven't been to any upscale BR places in the last 3-4 years. Are Mansur's and Juban's still putting out great food? Any new places that are worth trying?

Stroubes downtown is very good, as is Le Creole on Highland.

I went to Mansur's about a month ago. It was great. I always loved that place.
I've only had a drink at Juban's int he past 5 years, but they still had a big crowd. My parents still eat there every now and then. They say its still pretty good.
I tell ya, my wife and I had a fantastic meal at Galatoire's Bistro a few months ago. I know some have said they weren't wowed by it, but we had a great dinner.

Mansur's is one of the best in town

Not a big fan of Mansur's just because it's a more casual-type setting with fine dining prices. I'd rather go with Ruth's, Fleming's, or Ruffino's at those prices. I've never had a bad meal from Juban's.
Edit: grammatical
Edit2: If you want a real treat, go to Roberto's.

Beausoleil is the place you're looking for.

I find Mansur's to have a plenty nice enough atmosphere, but I feel this way about Beausoleil.
I love Beausoleil, but when people call it fine dining, I'm like

It's a nice atmosphere, and it's not $10/person, but it's casual IMO.

Yeah, I don't get that. I felt it had a plenty upscale atmosphere.
Hell, I've had more casual experiences at Jubans and Galatoire's than I've ever had at Mansur's.
(And Jubans/Galatoire's are both rightfully considered "nice" places as well)

With the exception of the bar at Mansur's, I feel it has an upscale atmosphere, as well.
To the OP, the chargrilled oysters, alone, are worth a trip there. I don't love all the food, but the fish dishes have always been well prepared.
I love the food at Galatoire's Bistro. The main dining area certainly feels nice to me. The bar and patio areas are more casual. Oysters Rock rock there.

I disagree. But maybe he should try out Jolie Pearl?

I had Tsunami a couple nights ago and saw this place was open.
OP: I think Varnadoe made IPO a much better place than it used to be. It isn't "upscale", but it's nice and fun. It's a tapas place.
If you're interested, I just bought a Groupon for it and I have a code for $10 off, so I got a $50 gift card for $15.

Was the question "Where can I go to listen to a bunch of nanny-moms yell about how great it is to see each other?"
Because I would agree with your suggestion.

It was a bit tongue in cheek. The same group that owns or started Le Creole and Stroubes is doing Jolie Pearl.

These two are in the same group?
I thought it was Le Creole, Little Village, and Stabs. (Maybe one other place).. Wayne Stabler

Nino's
Nino's is an excellent suggestion. It's small and quaint but with nice atmosphere. Most importantly, the food is terrific.

Jolie Pearl (what an awful porn-like name) and Le Creole definitely have some ties. Dana Brown is common to them both.

Would recommend Beausoleil as well. Ate there last Friday for a rehearsal dinner and was pleasantly surprised. Not exactly "fine dining" but the food was great and the atmosphere was nice.

I thought something similar about the name. Have no idea behind the "Jolie" part. I get the "Pearl" of course, but Jolie Pearl is a terrible name.
