Started with browning one pound of lean ground beef.

Once the beef was almost cooked I went ahead and opened a single 15oz can of original Manwich. They sell a 'Thick and chunky' and 'Bold' amongst some other flavors but I like sticking with the tried and true 'Original'

Once the meat was just about done I poured the sauce over the beef.

Toasted my buns, slight slather of blue plate and yella mustard.

One of the best parts is overfilling the sandwich and using spicy Doritos to scoop up the left over meat.

Washed down with a couple Claws out of the variety pack and you got you a damn good meal!

Enjoy!

Certainly worth the second upvote. Might add a dill pickle, but that is just me.

I agree with MD about the pickle, but have another upvote for a nostalgic visit to our shared culinary past.

Another upvote. My wife lets me have fun on occasion and this is what I’m eating. I like pickle, red onion and shredded sharp cheddar. :)

Sonic should offer this as a Combo. White Claw, Manwich Doritos melt, and tots.

I love sloppy Joe! But I'm gonna go with the food board meta and say "make your own"!

Onions
Bell pepper
Garlic

Ketchup
Mustard
Brown sugar
Worstershire
Chili powder
Salt
pepper
Red pepper flakes
A couple dashes of hot sauce

Eta: add 1/2 cup of your favorite bbq sauce for the "bold" flavoring.

I do similar. Instead of ketchup I use either a 15 oz can of tomato sauce or enchilada sauce, whatever I have handy.

same so my children did not grow up eating it

My daughter had a death in her family recently. Someone from her church brought over homemade sloppy joes and brioche buns (she lives in the midwest). She kept saying how good they were. I tried them and have to say homemade was way better than the can.

*I do use canned spaghetti sauce and enchilada sauce though so I am not just a non-can purist. I make dishes with cream of Campbells soups which is a culinary no-no in some circles.

Fun fact:

Back in the day in New Orleans when Better than Ezra wanted to do small shows to test out new music live they would preform under the name Manwich at bars.

My husband loves Manwich sauce but it’s sickly sweet to me. He spreads the meat mixture on each side of a burger bun, tops with a slice of American cheese, a slice of tomato, and a slice of Swiss cheese, and puts them under the broiler, open faced.

He doesn’t like a lot of what I eat, either.

Toasted bun, no condiments, open face. I loved Manwich growing up.
