Anyone remember these? They were a round, ball-like glazed, cakey donut. I used to love them as a kid. Does anyone make them like this, that you know of? I know McKenzie's went out of business, but I wonder if anyone picked up the slack. I live out of area now, but go home 3-4 times a year and wouldn't mine getting some sometime.

Actually, I don't remember them being greasy at all. It was a donut, but without the hole and in a ball with glaze all over it.

Not disputing your memory, but it kind of seemed like a donut/cake. I loved them when I was little.

Tastees sells them (they have the rights to McKenzie's recipes). They're so fricking good .

Tastee got them in the McKenzie's bankruptcy. I knew the trustee, so just in case, I offered him $50 for the Blackout Cake recipe, because I had that for most of my birthdays as a kid.

Blackout Cake. Wow. I remember that vaguely - I remember it was amazing, but can't quite remember what it was like. Remind me.

Try the Blackout Cake that Cook's Country has. I had never made a cake in my life, but I made my first, and it was the best chocolate cake I have ever had in my life.

They have them @ FQF this weekend. Also I was in Creole Creamery last weekend, and they had it as a flavor. I opted for the petit fore flavor instead.

They are awesome and as mentioned someone else, maybe Tastee, makes them now. I last had them at the Clearview location few blocks down from Airline

+1

Been singing their praises ever since trying my first drop from them a few months ago. They are at the FQF this weekend too. Simply delicious.
