Minneapolis Food Recs

I have a conference in Minneapolis next month. Most of the food is on site, but we get a couple of nights free for dinner.
Will be staying downtown, and no car, but can easily uber/lyft places.
Anyone have recommendations? Thanks

Head to North Loop for dinner and brewery / cocktail bar afterwards.
Spoon and Stable is the best restaurant in the neighborhood, Black Sheep is fantastic coal-fired pizza, Butcher & The Boar "reopened" under a new hospitality group that knew Chef Riebel well, Bar La Grassa is best Italian in North Loop, and The Monte Carlo has a fantastic atmosphere for everything in-between.
After dinner, hit Cobble Social or Parlour for cocktails or swing to Modist, Fulton or Inbound for beers.

All I know is juicy Lucy burgers and lutefisk haha
It’s a big time, affluent city. I’m sure there are tons of good restaurants.

Really cool bar at that spot.
FYI, you WILL see a lot of LBGTQ in that North Loop area if that bothers you.
Hope you get Mr. Bill, the bartender in this photo. He was great!

Find a dive bar and order some pull tabs.
Also see if a local bar is doing a meat lottery.
It's hilarious

Bar La Grassa is excellent. Was just up there a couple weeks ago and ate there again; it did not disappoint. Same owner has another place called 112 (or maybe 123) Eatery that is really good too.

If you want a high-end steakhouse, I would recommend Many's Steakhouse. It is downtown and consistently listed in the Top 10 Steakhouses in the US. We eat there about every 2 years and have never had a bad meal. It isn't cheap. Let me know if you go.

Second Hoops on Spoon and Stable. Awesome restaurant and go once a month when I’m there. Stay downtown too and can walk there depending on where exactly you are

I second Butcher and the Boar, or try Butcher's Tale. If I've got the story straight, Butcher and the Boar closed and those people opened up Butcher's Tale, then Butcher and the Boar reopened again. When I ate there before they closed, it was one of the best meals I've had in the States. Start with the charcuterie board and move onto the double cut pork chop ftw.

It amazed me how many people were lined up to get those.
I wish I could've found a dive bar that played beer dice when I was up there.

In "regular" bar dice you have three shakes to get the most points with five dice, but you must open with an ace. This game can get pricey. The loser has to buy a round of shots for everyone playing, and if any player gets five aces, they're buying a round for the bar.

I go back and forth between St Paul and Houston. This thread has some good recs. I was surprised at the food scene in the Twin Cities. It is way better than I expected being from BR.

I had a great meal at Alma once upon a time. Nice walk from downtown.

If you're a beer guy head to Surly.

There isn't enough Tony chachere's or Louisiana hot sauce to make that stuff edible!

Surly has been pretty damn mediocre since losing Todd Haug to 3 Floyds in 2016, but it's an amazing space during warm weather months. Another distillery just opened right there, too, which is a cool addition.

On our trip last year, this was great... as was Young Joni's..
Owamni (indigenous restaurant/menu) was also pretty good... definitely different..
