Think $30-40 a plate for dinner, modern American or Southern preference, other options welcome.

I’ve been on a Noble South kick lately.

Lots of good options. Dumbwaiter, Noja and Noble South are a few of my favorites. Dauphin's is worth doing once as well with great views of the downtown area.

Noble South or Dumbwaiter. Steer clear of Royal Scam. It looks the part, but is aptly named.

Noble south, dumbwaiter, southern national.
Dauphins is good but not great. But it’s a cool arse spot. Their happy hour is legit.

Last 2 times I ate downtown, I went to Roosters. Good Latin food, with a laid back atmosphere

This place is really good and the staff/owner are cool. The owner came out and chatted me up last time I was there. Running a restaurant is tough business and the extra "I give a s***" to come out and meet the customers is way cool.
Also across the bay is Southwood Kitchen and Wash House, both very good. If you venture down south, Catalina is the best crab claws ever.

Last time I was there they had these skewers of Cubed pork belly and watermelon that was fire.

Bob's Downtown Diner is a great breakfast place. Very informal, New Orleans vibe.

It’s not bad. If you want a sandwich though I’d go to Mediterranean Sandwich instead.

I've only been to Dumbwaiter and would highly recommend it. Definitely worth it if you end up there.

Dad and I are going to visit my brother and sister in law the Monday & Tuesday of Thanksgiving week. They're staying in Pensacola with an eye towards Orange Beach but Dad and I have seen beaches before so we just want to see the kids and my brother. We figured we'd just have a good time and some good food relatively close by for a couple of days.
