So I bought a Zojirushi rice cooker for my wife. I thought “it’s cooking rice, how hard can this be?”

Apparently I am an idiot and this is rocket science.

Even reading through the manual I still don’t understand the difference between white, brown, semi brown, sweet etc. for instance I had a pack of yellow rice that I am experimenting with (it’s the cheap vigo brand). I don’t know if I should be cooking it as white, mixed semi brown or whatever.

Can someone give me a guidance? I love red beans and rice, yellow rice with black beans etc. Any advice on how to make these would be great.

We have a Zojirushi, and you just fill the water right and it does the rest. Always comes out perfect for us.

Typically yellow rice is white rice that has saffron. I would assume it would cook like a medium white rice.

Figure out how many cups you have and fill too the line on standard white.

Just know Zojirushi rice cookers are designed for short and medium grain rice

Cook it as white rice. My wife makes that often.

Well, that's just racist.

Most all of the commercial packaged yellow rice uses turmeric as a cheap replacement for saffron.

Martini beat me to it. Yellow rice like Vigo is easily made with white rice, turmeric, chicken Bouillion, and maybe some garlic or onion powder.
