I currently have an LG and now sick and tired of having to beat on the panel to make it work.

Any recommendations on a COUNTERTOP microwave oven? Prefer to keep it around $200 - $250.

Current specs
1.5 cu ft
1200 watts

Just go to Costco and buy whatever they have, will probably be in the 100-150 range. When it breaks repeat.

They are all shite. Been through three in 5 years. From expensive to not. Just get a mid range disposable one.

We got about 2.5 years out of a cheap Best Buy countertop so when a part went bad we got another. Talking really cheap on sale.

Insignia is the store brand. Find the trim level you want and they will even deliver and install and dispose of the old one.

increase your budget to $400 and buy the best Panasonic that fits your needs and has the best reviews. IMO, they make THE BEST sub $500 microwave in the industry. When I purchased my first home, I bought a Panasonic that lasted 18 years. I replaced it with the same brand and it's going on 10 yrs old. Never experienced a problem as they're a solid kitchen investment.

There is a recent episode of America's test kitchen and they recommended the breville with the rotary knob for the time that had little feet on it. And if you couldn't find that one the Sharp carousel was the runner-up.

I beg to differ they are all shite...

I inherited the one I have now when I moved in this house in Abu Dhabi in Feb. 2004, and its still working today, 20 years 8 months later. And not sure how old it was when I moved in... White- Westinghouse baby

We have a Frigidaire that pops popcorn in about 90 seconds, highly recommend it.

Yeah I'm surprised to learn that microwaves are shitty now. That Toshiba in our kitchen is easily 10-15 years old.

I've been looking at this one Toshiba

It will protrude a bit out of the cabinet slot but I don't think that will be an issue.

I have a GE Profile that I bought in 2007. It is still working fine. No issues, and I do not remember what I paid for it. I will buy another when this one does fail.

If you want to be amazed at how well a microwave can actually function spend a little more and get this one:

Amazon

If you want to stay in budget here you go:

Amazon

An alternative if you have some issue with Panasonic

Amazon

If you are buying a counter microwave today the only two names you need to know are Panasonic and Toshiba. If you want a built in things become more complex and more expensive.

The panasonic that sams carries is the best deal/value for a decent microwave.

Panasonic sucks the least of out the current home microwaves, but they all suck.

I am not the right person to give a recommendation, but I recently purchased one that is also an air fryer and glad I did. I am not going to recommend mine because the buttons are not backlit, and I hate that.

I have to say I think Panasonic is an underrated brand. Ive had panasonic tv video cameras etc and all have been great.
I havent seen Panasonic TVs in quite sometime. Ive had a Panasonic Plasma since 2007. Its been great. I know a plasma right.

I can't remember the last time we bought a microwave. The one in the house now was probably put in when the house was built, 30 years ago. And, I still have the Amana Radar range my mom bought when they first came out in 1967. It weighs a ton and works fine still.
