2nd meal there, we got there early tonight to try and beat the crowd at 615pm…packed to the rafters with a line out front waiting. We scored seats at the bar which was perfect
first try a week or so ago was a Saturday night and the place was up for grabs. The pizza was good but undercooked which I can understand with as busy as they were. Tonight was much better.
pecan and berries salad
pepperoni pizza with hot honey drizzle
catahoula common
abita strawberry
10/10 on this meal.
friendly prompt service with a smile
the place is really well done, comfortable despite the crowd and the owner and his family are all working
obviously this place was highly anticipated and it’s worth the wait. They are killing it and it’s the best pizza in the area.
Ponchatoula has come a long way in a short time

Pics of the za?
It's fair to give two tries unless the the first try was absolutely awful. Glad you got a better experience on round 2.

No opportunity yet. We were out of town last week. This week and next, my wife’s schedule won’t let us both go. I’ll look beyond that but I always have the opportunity to slip in by myself, probably not gonna risk her finding out. :)

They cook their dough longer than the truck did ?
Posted on 10/25/24 at 12:41 pm to GrammarKnotsi
I only had the truck pie once, and we usually got a pie from them out at renfest every year so I can’t say either way…like I said the first time we went the pie was tasty but it needed another 5 mins in the oven. Last nights pie was perfect, charred a little and good balance between chewy and crispy
I’m not a huge fan of the “specialty pizza” options on the menu but they use good ingredients and whoever is making the dough knows what they are doing.
Immediately the best pizzas in the area. When we want pizza I’ll not consider another place now. The only place around we like better is greyhound in Covington

Tommy's on Thomas is better

Tommy's on Thomas is better
especially after the renovation and change in owners. Tommy’s pizza now is typical chain pizza. Good enough but not good enough to go back

With or without the roaches?
Posted on 10/26/24 at 12:47 pm to cgrand
Did they remove the sweet sauce and those bread sticks?
Posted on 10/26/24 at 12:53 pm to Falco
still have the sweet sauce but they cut all the “Tommy’s pizzas” that make the place different like the Dixon etc. just generic pizza now
Tommy’s was never excellent just good enough and different. Now it’s just plain Jane and not as much fun

Always loved large pepperoni, extra cheese, with the sweet sauce the cheesy bread with sweet sauce

We went to Nola Mia Saturday. I've always been a big supporter of their food truck.
We had 2 of their specialty pizzas which were great. Also had the fried pasta ball appetizer which was excellent. It was jam packed but we got in pretty quickly. Service was perfect, which surprised me b/c they just opened. Definitely a top pizza in the area.
For the posters talking about Tommy's, I personally think it is much better after the new ownership came in. The new owners know how to run a restaurant and don't put up with a dirty roach infested restaurant.
Also, a hidden gem pizza spot in the area is the pizza at Joe's Italian. It's new york style and I think it's pretty dang good.

Not enough arrogance and smugness for you in this review?

Joe's Italian
I personally can't stand this place, and I don't understand all of the hype. We have tried it a few times and everything that I had taste exactly the same. Bland and tasteless.
Maybe I am just spoiled by the way my wife's Italian family cooks.
It really is a shame that with all of the Italian influence that Tangipahoa has, that there isn't a better choice for Italian food. I miss Gina's in Independence so much!!

we went to the place that was in there before joes it was ok, never been to Joe’s. I looked at the menu and didn’t see pizza that’s why I asked.
and you’re right there’s not a good reliable red sauce place in town. Cena is good but not really the same. Gina’s was great

I mean, this is just unacceptable no matter how busy you are if pizza is what you do.
