Watching too much Mad Men.
What's a good whiskey? What the hell is a good Rye? Name one?
Preferred fruit for muddling?

Rye is for a sazerac. But a good one is bulleit.
I like makers in my ofs. Knob creek rarely as well.
Muddled fruits should consist of an orange slice and maraschino cherry.

Orange. The cherry shouldn't be muddled. If it is, that's a clue that the bartender doesn't know what they are doing.

Rye is perfectly acceptable for an old fashioned, of which I prefer anyways. Boirbon just is too sweet at times. I like the spicyness of a good rye.

any good bar will ask you which you prefer

You people are pathetic...........
Sugar in a low fat glass, add Angostura and water. Mix until the sugar is dissolved. With this syrup, paint the whole glass. Squeeze a large orange peel, taking care to thoroughly shroud the glass with it. Add two cubes of ice, splash the whiskey, and mix. Finish with a spiral of lemon and a maraschino cherry.
Some prefer a bit of soda.
ETA Don´t order it. I´m pretty sure you´re a youngin´. It´s too much for you and your palate.

Could be, were I from Louisiana. No clue, honestly. I know that to be very close, without scrutinizing (which I won´t do).
ETA bah, just reviewed, have no idea what needs to be reviewed. You tell me, Old Fashioned expert. I´ve only had maybe ten in my life (so I definitely cannot comment with authority).
