Orin Swift wines

I’m not really a wine guy but I buy wine occasionally for gifts. Today at Costco they had a couple of cases of 75,864 miles an Orin Swift wine that I had never heard of. Couple of people I have given Machete and Trigger Finger have really liked them.
Anyone here ever had this particular wine and have any comments about it? Cannot find any reviews and is not listed on his website. Thanks

I don’t know about that wine specifically, but Orin swift puts out a good selection of big reds. I was a big fan of The Prisoner before they sold it, and Papillion is a great bottle.

8 years in the desert from Orin Swift is basically OG prisoner. He had a non compete when he sold the prisoner brand and couldn't make a zin dominant blend for 8 years. He then sold Orin Swift to Gallo, released this, and named it as such.

As for OP, I haven't seen that. Probably just a special label for Costco.
Orin Swift is California wine to the max so most people like it. It just gets to be too much for me sometimes. Dave Phinney is a cool guy though. Locations is a really good line.

That and Rattlesnake by Dave Phinney are solid Zin blends

Why don't we have a running wine thread

We should, like the whiskey one. That would be fun to have everyone just drop in what they're drinking that day or had recently.

I love the idea of a wine thread. It’s all I drink now.

The Prisoner
If you like that, Bogle’s Phantom is called “Baby Prisoner” by many and it’s only a quarter of the cost.

I've never heard this, but it is a great wine. The current vintage, 2015, got another 90 point rating from enthusiast.

I'm in! I've been drinking more wine now hat I'm off the beer. I would love for more suggestions from the board.
