Anyone use one of their gas grills? I was at Academy yesterday and they had one I thought I might like.
I assume the quality is a couple of steps below a Weber, but Weber grills cost have gotten very high.
I might grill 4-6 times a month, and the grill is stored in a garage.
Just trying to see if it's something that is decent for the price, or junk to avoid.

I've owned a bunch of grills. I promise you it is worth it to just bite the bullet and buy a Weber from the beginning.
Not only will you come out ahead when it outlives several other grills, but you also never have to worry about uneven heating or any of the other quirks of lesser grills.

This, plus Weber does a good job about selling replacement parts if needed down the road.

The rule of thumb is that you get a year out of a grill for every hundred dollars you spend on it. Spend the money on a nice one and enjoy it for several years.

We have one of the Academy Outdoor Gourmet grills that has the side burner and granite tops. Bought it 9 years ago. About a year ago we changed out a few of the internal parts for about $100-$150. Works great. Used about 3 times a week during the spring, summer and fall and a couple of times during the winter months. Worth the $500 we paid for it and sits outside under covered back patio year round.

You'll extend the life by keeping it in a garage for sure. If it's cheap, buy one and see how it does. As some have said, an expensive one will last longer but this one may give you a lot of years if you treat it right.

I grill about 2 times a week. I used to buy the budget box store grills and would get about 2 years out of them. Bought the low end Weber Spirit grill 5 years ago and it's still cooks like day 1. Burner warranty is 10 years so I see no reason why I won't be using it for 10 or more years.
$200 for a cheap grill cost me $100 a year (2 years). $400 for a low budget Weber cost me $40 a year (10 years).
