Looks like he is opening a steak restaurant across the street from his current restaurant. Probably will be solid and a better option for steak than anything nearby but was hoping someone would open up a more casual place with lots of tvs and a bar type menu. That is desperately needed and would be successful.

He's done a good job with P&W and caught lighting in a bottle there. Steak seems a bit boring but P&W isn't just a "seafood restaurant", so if he can do something interesting with it, it definitely could be successful.

Guessing the old Acropolis on Freret? Not sure a steakhouse will have much draw there, but never know. Wish Wayfare would have never closed.

Hate that I had to move from that area so soon. I believe they just got approval to put a Trader Joe’s on the corner of Napoleon/Freret. I was one block away from there.

I agree about Wayfare.

I think a steakhouse can work. Charlie’s is booked all the time and it’s pretty terrible.

Charlie's has that nostalgia factor going for it.

If I had to guess, P&W people will do something very modern with it. Or they should.

I think a steakhouse on Freret would need to be pretty casual like Charlie’s to work. Need to rely on Tulane and Loyola students to pay the rent.

Honestly, it needs to be something casual and trendy like Val’s. I think the P&W group could pull that off, just not sure about a focus on steak.

Any word on the food truck spot going next to Humble Bagle? Did that get approved?

Yeah, a traditional, high end, high dollar steakhouse a la Doris Metro is not going to work there, IMO.

If they instead make it a trendy, meat centric version of P&W (that is seafood centric), with comparable atmosphere and price, that could work.

the businesses on that block really do not depend much on the college crowd. the college kids do not really come up past Vals

not that something along there wouldn't attract more of em.

High Hat and Bearcat are killing it with the tourist crowd, honestly.

FYI I haven't seen any stories on this yet, so I assume OP is just someone in the know

It’s only like one more block up. Bearcat, The Rook, Company Burger, Sarita’s were always full of college aged kids when I lived right there. Adding a Trader Joe’s on the corner will help draw more as well.
