Friend,
The menu shows they only serve slices, but any slice shop will sell you a whole pie, especially if you order with the name "Austin." Pizzerias that do not list the cost of a whole pizza usually will charge the cost of a slice x 6 or 8, depending on how they slice it. Unfortunately, Forbidden cuts its slices small, so you would actually have to purchase 8 slices to get a full pizza. At $5 a slice, a plain 20" pizza for $40 before tax and tip? That would make its 20" plain more expensive than any I know in NYC. To compare, a plain 20" at some of the best known pizzerias in NY are as follows:
Forbidden Pizza $40
Lucali $32
DiFara $32
Rubirosa $32 (18")
L'industrie $31
Julianna's $30
Mama's Too $29.50
R Slice $29
F&F $29
Fini $29
Upside $28
Paulie Gee's Slice Shop $28
Cello's $28
Best Pizza $27
Joe's Pizza $26
Scarr's $26
Lucia's of Avenue X $24.49
Andrew Bellucci's $23
Patsy's on 2nd Ave $21 (18")
Maybe Forbidden gives a discount for whole pies? Il Supremo, the best pizzeria in Louisiana history, sells a 20" plain for $18.
It surprises me not a little that they are struggling to handle any increase in customers. They may have hired a guy who made pizzas at L'industrie, and seems to use their exact recipe. But their ordering system was broken the two times I have been there, as detailed in my review in the other thread. One time it took ten minutes for the cashier to make my order. It was not busy -- only one party was ahead of us.
Yours,

Again, I do like you TulaneLsu you seem nice, and you’re excited about pizza, but Il Supremo is not the best pizza in Louisiana - that's a fleeting emotional and trendy talking point. Your statement won't age well. Please keep traveling

A whole basic pie at Forbidden is $28. The most expensive is the Italian Stallion for $36.
