PSA: Ball aluminum cups look cool, but they suck

Saw an advertisement for the new Ball aluminum cups. 100% recyclable! Look pretty cool, probably better than Solo cups since they’re 10x the price.
But if you have a drink on ice it’s like holding ice. If you have a hot coffee it Burns your hand. There’s zero insulation. Probably a reason why we haven’t used thin metal cups throughout history.
Try em, I promise you’ll hate em.

a root beer from a tap with crushed ice in a metal cup is the best thing ever in the summer.

Yeah that has a handle though. These are just thin metal solo cups

Nothing tastes better than an ice cold drink in a thin metal cup in the summer. It just doesn’t get any better.

Put the Ball cup in a Solo cup.

I saw them advertised and a few people gushing over them
I have no idea why anyone would want them. They're too expensive for disposable cups. If you wash them I see no advantage over regular cups. They don't insulate, they don't protect your hand from heating/cooling.
The single thing I saw that made any sense is that they would be idea cups if you play a lot of beer pong.

I dont like drinking out of metal, cant use a Yeti cup either and dont like a Mule in the copper. Dont know why, but seems like I can taste a metallic taste.

Looks like you're drinking out of a cocktail shaker.

just get some pint glass coozie sleeves if your fingers are that sensitive
What part of “Greensteel Steel cups” made you think they were the same thing as the “Ball aluminum cups”?

they are both metal cups?
i was not aware there was a specific metallurgical requirement to your thread

Well one is an insulated metal cup like a lot of people use. The other is a specific, brand name disposable cup that’s as thin as a solo cup and has no insulation. The thin disposable one is what this thread is about.

the steel ones I linked are single wall uninsulated but not disposable.
they last forever
maybe try those, can’t beat them for a cold beverage

are plastic solo cups not recyclable?
Posted on 6/4/21 at 2:02 pm to lsuwontonwrap
they are polystyrene
standard plastic recyclers typically won’t take them, some will some won’t. When the go in the landfill they last forever
