Ratio of crawish to tail meat

How much, by weight, of tail meat can i from expect 10 pounds of crawfish? Or any kind of ratio will work.

thorax = 70%
tail = 30%

no way you get 3 pounds of meat from 10 pounds of crawfish. I would guess its closer to a 10:1 ratio.

you don't actually eat the tail shell so, you can probably deduct 10 more % for the actual weight of the tail shell.


so, it's probably more like 2 lbs or so.

i would say 1-2 lbs per 10 lbs


i peeld about 10 lbs that were left over from last weeks boil.....they filled up almost 2 sandwich sized ziplocs

It depends a lot on the size of the crawfish, smaller crawfish = greater meat to total weight ratio.

15 to 18 percent of body weight is tail meat.
