My wife and I enjoy homemade margaritas quite a bit but she always buys Casamigos. She buys it because she is basic and it is blasted all over instagram. She always says, make sure your grab the George Clooney tequila. I told her there has to be better tequila for a better price but I know nothing about tequila. Can someone please recommend me some tequilas?

Casamigos is pretty legit. Herradura and Camarena both make quality products.

I agree I like it but because of how much it is blasted on social media by basic 20-40 year white girls I figured it was overrated for the price. I could easily be completely wrong as I don't know anything about tequila but that seems to be the trend for most of the products that go around that circle.

As TH03 said, there may be one out there, but Casa Amigos is the cat's pajamas.

I don't care if Brad Pitt is stirring the tequila in the barrels--if it's good, it's good.

You definitely pay for the brand name and marketing, but tequila is expensive to make, especially reposado/anejo and especially with agave shortages recently that have made people take price increases. That said, casamigos earned their reputation with a quality product.

For Margaritas, I usually grab the cheapest 100% agave though. Cabrito and Agavales are great for mixing.

Picked up some Cenote Reposado at the recommendation of an employee at the Hokus in Pville.... it’s pretty damn good. I think it’s about the same price... she also recommended the casimigos. But, gave the edge to Cenote. I sipped it and made some damn fine Ritas with it.

You shouldn't be making margaritas with Casamigos. Try something like Lunazul, far cheaper and makes a really good margarita.

I don’t drink a lot of Tequila but my wife really likes Corzo. You might give it a shot.

Are you asking for tequila for Margaritas & other mixed drinks or tequila for sipping?

If the former- Espolon, Lunazul, and Cazadores for the good quality tequila that won't break the bank. All of those are in the $25-$30 range for a 750mL, maybe $10 more for a 1.5L. Tres Agaves will work too for a little less. Costco tequila is legit as well.

If the latter- Cazadores Reposado, Corazon, Milagro, Corralejo, are all fine. These should all be under $50 a bottle.

Best one I’ve found in the under/at $50 range is Fortaleza, both blanco and reposado are great. The Casamigos is good because it is sweet, which is because it has additives added which traditional tequilas don’t have.

Also agree with the above, if making margaritas, get a cheap $20-30 bottle of 100% agave.

I like Hornitos for the $20 price point, but the purists say the autoclave and diffuser are

Altos is like $25 a bottle and apparently still made well as this is the key:

Extraction : Tahona, Roller Mill

I was stunned that ridiculously expensive Casa Dragones is apparently made with the industrial methods and not old school.

Corazon is also great for the price. The blanco is really good and about $20. They have some high-end artisanals that are fun if you want to spend $$$$.

Everything Herradura and Don Julio are solid.

I have been liking the milagro reposado for margaritas. Hell, it's tasty on its own. I usually buy a fifth for about $27.

I recently tried a bottle of Altos, but my wife and I both found we were getting headaches every time we drank it.
