re: Recommend a tequila that is better than Casamigos for same price or less

Interesting how people react differently to various liquors/brands. I have settled on Altos as my staple. I think the main point for OP is if he is mixing, there are probably a dozen good 100% agave options in the $20-$30 range, whether it be Milagro, Corazon, Hornitos, Altos, etc.

Casamigos blanco is my daily go to tequila. That said, I’m just mixing it with lime Topo but the vanilla finish keeps me coming back. It’s honestly the best I’ve found yet.
My #2 would have to be Fortaleza blanco. Just as good but without the vanilla finish.

We were buying Espolon because at the closest Rouse's it was on the floor and I didn't have to deal with finding someone to go behind the liquor counter. It was very fine for a cheap tequila. Now they moved it behind the counter and I don't know what to do.

Has anyone given the Rock's tequila a try?

Good reasonably priced tequilas that I enjoy are Cazadores and el Jimador

For mixing, go with El Jimador ($20-$22). Don't mix $40+ bottles with anything. Those are for enjoying neat or on the rocks.

Have you tried the anejo?

That is an often overlooked brand.

I bought a bottle of Casamigos Anejo after reading this thread. Damn, is it smooth.
It does have a distinct vanilla finish as some noted. It's almost a little too vanilla for me, like TX Bourbon. Does the blanco have that same vanilla flavor?
For those in the Shreveport area, Vineria (worst named liquor store; sounds like venereal) has 750 ml of the Anejo ($50.79) and 375 ml of all three varieties for around $26. I like their selection of small bottles.

We use Exotico Blanco. Nearly the same rating according to Total Wine’s website at half the cost.

It does. Casamigos is very very drinkable b/c it is artificially flavored with a diffuser. The agave can produce vanilla notes but nothing like you find in Casamigos. Clase Azul is another very popular but artificially flavored tequila. If you want to taste actual agave flavor at Casamigos price points, buy Fortaleza.

Best one I’ve found in the under/at $50 range is Fortaleza, both blanco and reposado are great.
This. I haven't tried their reposado yet, but the Blanco is a super smooth sipping tequila.

For the price, Sauza Anejo is hard to beat. It's usually around $13-15 per bottle and is surprisingly smooth with decent flavor.
