No responses is quite surprising for this esteemed group of gourmands and epicureans

Ethnic food on El Camino Real, Indian, Ethiopian, Ramen...trendy stuff downtown. Los Gatos for a nice meal.

If you have a rental car drive from the back of Los Gatos over the ridge and down into Pescadero. Amazing redwood grove on the way. Get out and walk through it. Once down, eat a Duartes and get the cream of green chilli soup, and a $75 abalone sandwich if you're in the mood.

Merci Gaston.......that soup sounds terrific. I'll pass on $75 abalone.....rather drive into San Fran and go to Penang Garden in Chinatown for their Spicy Dungeness Crab

I never had the sandwich either. The drive down to Pescadero is simply one of the most beautiful stretches of road you'll ever see.

I'd go south, or west, from San Jose. The beaches outside of Santa Cruz, I got engaged at Seven Mile, are gorgeous. The towns in the mountains just south of San Jose are great too, Ben Lomond being my favorite.

We lived in San Jose then moved up to San Francisco after LSU, and we loved our time in the south bay.

Steaks: Henry's Hi-Life downtown is a unique old school place

Alexander's in Cupertino is amazing but really pricey.

Forbes Mill or Grill on the Alley for in between those ranges.

Asian: Mizu Sushi, or just go to Japantown and pick a place. Actually..yeah...just go to Japantown

Breakfast: Bills Cafe or Hash House.

Mexican: Tu Mero Mole, Tequilas, or Mezcal for more upscale. Aqui for swirl margaritas (the food sucks)

Pizza: Bibo's for a slice, Jake's for pizza, wings, beer, watching a game. Round Table if you need one delivered.

Other random places:

Orchard City Kitchen for hipster food
Back-a-Yard for Caribbean
Nemea for Greek
Sliders Burgers
Zeni or Walia for Ethiopian food
