Most are open but already booked. Tried to get reservations last night at a bunch of places with no luck.

Crazy - what places did you call? So I don't have to do the same.

Thanks, I’m perfectly capable of cooking a meal at home but we’ll be eating with family the days leading up to and after - so just looking for a change of pace.

Will try some of the Indian and Vietnamese/Thai places around town.

This is just silly. Restaurants decide whether to be open and, as a consequence, whether their employees work on a holiday. Many folks in this industry don't get paid when they don't work.

I'm not forcing them to be open, but if they choose to be open I will gladly pay for a meal.

..and some people like to work on the holidays

Update: made an early evening reservation at Tap65

Also grabbed a 7pm reservation at J Alexanders on Open Table as a backup.

This is why restaurants have to incorporate cancellation fees.
