With the recent positive publicity (and some negative stories that came with digging) --- decided to try this place as korean food and korean chicken establishments are not a strong suit of New Orleans.
And to my concern, this was easily a 4/10. Service was great, but for cost ($2/wing) and taste --- I can wholeheartedly say its disappointing.
Lets start with flavor and sauces: the profile of the sauces (soy garlic) tasted of simple light soy sauce without any resemblance of garlic or umami you should taste. gochujang was a watered down version of what you can get from a store mixed with water. Chain establishments (bb.q chicken or bonchon) figured the flavors you expect, this was far inferior.
Batter: the vast amount of chicken establishments locally absolutely destroy the batter. not seasoned well at all, none of the crispy bits that make a good fried chicken batter -- the pictures they advertise looked completely different
Other items:
Chicken sandwich -- I know this has been a trending item since Popeyes decided to enter the arena, but give me the spicy Popeyes sandwich any day of the week and some. Company Burger down the street has a superior chicken sandwich. We tried the southern one: lacked flavor, lettuce was still wet, and pickles tasted like it came from a jar.
Onigirazu --- this just irks me when restaurants group asian food items under one roof and call themselves a certain establishment. Its no different than if you had ramen and pho under the same damn roof. Filling was solid for the spicy tuna, but my God...learn how to make rice. SO dry.
Recommendation: If you REALLY want korean fried chicken, look elsewhere. Hell, make it yourself and you'll enjoy it 100x as much. Once again korean food in New Orleans sorely disappoints.

Damn, this is really disappointing. This was very high on my list to check out soon.

shite. I was actually planning to go next week.
Probably still will, but my expectations are adjusted.

Agree with others that this is disappointing to hear
May still check it out but certainly warned
If this place is as you say, they will not last long on Freret

To be fair, I'm fairly cautious about korean food in New Orleans, but the massive hype had me excited. Maybe that's why it felt like such a huge letdown.
I'll stick to korean food at home or when I go out of state (Chicago, NY, LA, Houston, Dallas, Atlanta, etc)

Went last week. Agree with sentiment and left perturbed. But service was good for a casual spot.
Canned tuna fish or salmon and sushi rice sounds like a struggle home meal not a dish at a restaurant. At least put some really fresh tuna in that sandwich. When I saw the typical cast of influencers fawning over it, should have taken fair warning.
Gochujang wings were fine, soy garlic not.
Miss Korea house.

I don't think they are related actually

It’s nothing more than a casual option for college kids.

It’s ?? his son. Went to CIA and has worked at some great spots (IIRC) which again makes it more surprising they are just serving canned fish inside sushi rice.

I read something saying they weren’t related. Guess that was a lie

Well-written review. Another poster backed up your opinion. Got me hesitant on going now.
