REVIEW: the Poop Deck, Galveston TX

One of the hidden gems of the seawall and all of the gulf coast for that matter. This place has a true family feel to it. Easily accessible from seawall Blvd in galveston overlooking the scenic gulf of mexico, the enduring charm and eclectic ambiance of this old haunt will seep into your bones after mere minutes on the deck.
Known for its no Nonsense yet friendly bar staff, I found the jocular crowd of bikers and cigarette smoking barefooted sea dogs quite disarming. Yes, you must leave all pretense at the door and embrace a larger view of life and possibility in a world that seems to call back to a much simpler time. The way of the sea... The salty air...the indefatigable spirit of old galveston and those who can't seem to let go.

A gem for sure.

I give them credit for their longevity. Was exactly the same when I moved there in 2004. They, somehow, survived both Hurricane Ike and Tillman Fertitta, to remain a fixture on Galveston's charming seawall.
Here's to you, Poop deck. Whether a gay bar, a biker bar, or a gay biker bar, you endure.

The titty pics behind the upstairs bar are a nice touch.

Geaux to The Spot. on the seawall. Good food, cold beer and owned by an LSU family.

Biggest gripe about the Spot is each bar has a separate license so you can't just walk around the whole place with a drink. Door guys at each bar. Lame.

The tiki bar on the second story overlooking the seawall is always sticky too.
