Just had my first taste of Royal Reds (Boiled Shrimp) from Duckroost Seafood on Hwy. 431 in St. Amant and let me tell you, they are GREAT! At $10 per pound and ready to eat with no heads on 'em, you can't go wrong.
Here's to many more meals of Royal Reds...

$10 a pound no heads?
We’re they frozen?

I like Duck Roost but I won’t be getting boiled shrimp from them anymore. They just make them far too bland for me. I have tried the royal reds but I don’t see enough difference to justify the increased cost. Local shrimp cooked and seasoned properly are just fine for me.

All royal reds are previously frozen.

I had them for the first earlier this year at a local restaurant and I agree, they are great. These were boiled just perfectly and in some kind of buttery broth.
Tried them again steamed at some tourist trap place in Orange Beach and they didn't cook them worth a damn and had very little flavor.
I'm happy to see that they are creeping further into south La for sale.

Yes - I worded the question poorly.

They are way better head-on and steamed, with tons of seasoning sprinkled on them.
If you're ever over by the MS/LA border on I-10, stop at the Jourdan River Steamer for some...

That looks so fantastic and I love king crabmeat. It's so good and sweet and salty.

I like them fried. Picked some up a while back f om Kenny’s in Slidell for $8.99/lb. Only a dollar or two more than regular jumbos. I was skeptical but just wanted to see if I could tell the difference when fried (I know steamed or boiled is the go-to method), and they were great - noticeably better texture and flavor.

If any of you happen to go through Montgomery, AL, the Capital City Oyster Bar has Reds and they are fantastic.

They are delicious. I’ve had them from Duckroost many times and have always enjoyed them.

If in Slidell, they’ve got them at Phil’s marina and they are fantastic.
Had them for the first time this weekend. Reminded me of lobster meat. Very different from regular gulf shrimp you’d find in a boil around here.

I’ve never tried frying them. They cook so quickly. Tell us how you fried them.

I fry them in half Panko/half Italian bread crumbs. The breadcrumbs take less time to fry than a flour or corn meal batter, so the shrimp won’t be overcooked.
