Saltines in Gumbo

I realized tonight that I probably put way more crackers in my gumbo than the average person. I'd say i crushed up about 10-15.
How do you manage gumbo with saltines??
ETA: I only do this at home. I eat like a normal person in public

I've never put crackers in my gumbo. I put them in vegetable soup, sometimes, though.
I will dip toasted French bread in gumbo.

i love saltines in gumbo and will often not even have rice at home but just eat it like soup with crackers.
but, i don't put too many in. just a few. I like brothy soups.
eta: and it's not normal to use crackers? in middle school they always gave us crackers with our gumbo.

I can hardly eat my chicken and sausage gumbo if I don't have crackers.

Boss, I agree with your entire list. I too, did the saltines with chili until I discovered cheddar goldfish crackers. They rule in chili!

I have never and will never bring saltines anywhere near my gumbo. To me this is the equivelant of ketchup on a steak.
Just my opinion.
