I'll likely be in the NOLA area sometime between now and late February, and I'd like to be able to pick up a king cake that I can ship to FL during that time. When I was at the UPS Store the other day I saw they mentioned shipping king cakes but I didn't think about asking since I was hoping to buy from a website and have it delivered that way, but the two places I'd like to buy from are already sold out/waitlisted.

What's the best practice to go about shipping a king cake yourself?

Go online and order one to be shipped...

You want to send it back to your own house? Just take it on the plane.

my experience also, just carry it on the plane and store in overhead compartment. Or order online and have a KC shipped to you for $50+

I'll clarify. I live in BR but don't visit NOLA unless I have to. My family likes the cakes down there and I know some places are already set up to vacuum seal the cakes at pickup as opposed to BR stores that I'm not as fond of.

If you want to be a cheap arse, yes you can save money and ship or carry one on a plane.

Haydels has the most stuff in theirs such as beads, dabloons, and I think cups. They may even have a little magazine about Mardi Gras.

I'm not visiting. I'm also not flying to my family. I am just passing through NOLA to do things that day and head back to BR. Yall please read.

Quite obvious you weren’t the class valedictorian and your wife/GF/SO/husband makes the important family decisions. How hard is it to call Haydel’s, Gambinos, ( fill in the blank) , order a king cake, give them your CC #, and request the cake be shipped ? If your phones broken, you can order online at most places. FYI - NOLA isn’t the only bakery that sells quality king cakes. Solid cakes are also made in Lafayette, BR, Houma, the Northshore.

There's two I'm picking from, neither are booking anymore cakes for delivery. Only in person pickup. Try again.

Since there are only two stores that are acceptable to you, I'm curious which ones they are.

If you can still buy one at one of those stores, pick one up and head to the nearest UPS store and have it shipped.
