What’s the best place to eat in this area?
I know the answer is probably no but is there any restaurant that is a good representation of south Louisiana cuisine in this area?

Haven’t eaten there yet, but everyone raves about Herby K’s

Give Marilynn's Place a go.

That place seems to have better google reviews than the other.

Shreveport/Bossier is damned near Texas, whole lotta Mexicans in Texas(reason for Tex-Mex), so you just as soon head to Superior Grill on Line Ave & get you some Tex-Mex…

Probably the best bet with Frank's kitchen now closed, but it's still not a great representation of true south Louisiana food. SBC has some great spots, but not really if that's what your looking for.

I’m open to other suggestions. I was hoping they would have a gem and was trying to not just eat at a steak restaurant in the casino. Looking for something unique.

In that case:
Mae and Co
Ki Mexico
Franks pizza
The library on fern
Ono's Hawaiian (especially for the creative cocktails)
All great spots, all pretty unique and local and unique to Shreveport.
Enjoy your stay

Good list. I would add Fat Calf.

I’ve always enjoyed the fried catfish at Blind Tiger.

Ono's is great and super creative with their menu and specials.
Ki' Mexico is NOT traditional Mexican OR Tex-Mex- it's on it's own island and it's awesome.
Sauvage has several Oktoberfest specials on the menu right now
Mae & Co is brand new, but the owner/head chef has been around Shreveport for a while. Everything I've seen looks incredible
I'll add Tejas to the list, along with Giuseppe's Pastacaffe. Giuseppe's is just good, authentic Italian food- fresh pastas and sauces, run by another Shreveport staple chef family.

Left off the list but great spot! Thanks for reminding me.

I frequent it since it's open and it's phenominal. The cocktail menu is next level and VERY well thought in how it compliments the cuisine which is approachable but upscale southern. My favorite touch is the 4 house made hot sauces that accompany the fresh shucked raws.

wow great suggestions.
I am leaning Mae and Co, Sauvage, or Marilyns.
out of those 3 any preference or bad experience? Which is the more fun atmosphere?
I only have 1 meal there, I wish Ihad more time to try all 3.

My pick would be Mae and Co personally as I think it has it all...food, drink and atmosphere. also what night will this be? They have live music in the park across the street every Thursday.
I never had a bad experience at Sauvage, but in my mind it's more of a brunch place.... don't know why..just always what we went there for.
Marilyns is the odd ball out here... it's in a former gas station so think more short order counter than resturant...they don't even have a bar you can sit at. If it's a nice day you can sit outside but the tables are kinda run down and it overlooks a street. Just based on atmosphere I'd skip here.

It will be next Thursday night

Oh man...Mae and Co is a no brainer then... it's in the Provinence neighborhood which has put a lot of money into that area... there's a beautiful park right across from Mae that will have a free live band and a little bar. It's a great low key crowd.

I would do Mae & Co or Ki Mexico
Mae & Co is brand new, so I haven't been, but I trust Blake.I can't wait for Heron (will open next to Mae & Co.)
Ki Mexico is just the best restaurant in north LA, so I'll always recommend it.
