Any fans? Perhaps my favorite non-traditional Thanksgiving side!!! Have them every year.

I assume you mean mirliton stuffing with shrimp? If so, I'm a big fan.

Not necessarily stuffing I don't think. Shrimp and Mirliton casserole. Unbelievable. I've purposefully run 10 miles this week just so I can load up with no remorse all day long!!!

Some call it a casserole, some a stuffing... If it's made in the traditional way, i.e. boiled, drained mirlitons mashed with italian breadcrumbs and shrimp, topped with more breadcrumbs and a few hundred pats of butter and baked, I'm in.

That's exactly it. It would be a fun research project to find out the history of the correct nomenclature.

I love it. Its my second favorite thanksgiving dish - first is eggplant rice dressing made with green onion sausage and ground beef

Who knows... I guess technically if it's stuffing it would be stuffed in a chicken, turkey, etc. Even though I do call cornbread stuffing stuffing even if it's made in a casserole dish.

Whatever you wanna call it, it's good eatin'.

You've piqued my interest. Post a recipe or prepare to die.

Is always the one side dish that has no leftovers. Usually because of me.

I'm really tempted to make it my main dish this year. In fact, I've already begun negotiating with the green bean casserole people and the sweet potato people. If I can negotiate away this corn rice, I'll have almost a full plate of Mirliton!
