Looking to get a shun classic 7 piece set or a Miyabi evolution 7 piece set.
Anyone have any experience with either? Is one better than the other?

Sets are not that way I would go
With those choices, I would get miyabi birchwood

With these two knife brands, quality is not an issue. They are both more or less similar, so it really comes down to the thickness of the blade and the feel of the knife in your hand.
If you're looking for a thinner and sharper knife with a ergonomic handle, go with the Miyabi. If you want a knife that's a little more durable, pick the Shun.

Yoshihiro.
Just remember that Japanese knives are for slicing and German knives are for chopping and breaking down poultry. Japanese knives WILL chip if you use them for the wrong purpose. I have quite a few Shun knives and one Yoshihiro and it's the better knife although the Shun knives do their tasks well.

It’s to put on our registry, can’t ask for a knife set that nice unfortunately.

Both cheaper than the set, and you can ask for better quality.

The Shun we have is heavy - so my husband usually uses it but it’s a great knife!
His knives for work are either Tojiro or Takamura - I don’t remember - those are awesome
