Anyone have a recipe? I feel like experimenting a little tonight.

But why? Shrimp takes 2 seconds to cook and I don't see how sous vide would improve it in any way.

It's that whole "perfect temp" thing. Shrimp's WAY easy to overcook, so I can see some advantage in preparing the shrimp and hitting the perfect temperature and holding while you can focus on the sides without worrying about overcooking.

Dunno. Just bored and want to try something different.

I just dont understand why its such a big deal that someone wants to SV whatever they want. Yes shrimp take two seconds to cook.
However, what harm is there if he throws a few in the bag at 5 and lets them bathe for a few hours until he is ready to eat dinner?
SV is great because you can start cooking it to perfection starting at 530-6 and leave for a few hours. You get home at 8-830 and its time to eat supper.

Not if you pay attention to it. It takes no time at all to cook. You can focus on the sides or anything else while it's sitting raw in the fridge or if it's cooked and set aside. There's no advantage to sous vide shrimp.
It's absurd to even have this conversation. Sous vide has jumped the shark on this board

honestly i would look up the cook time on SV shrimp. I would possibly throw a lil butter, fresh herbs, and tony's or whatever your seasoning.
Hell I might do a few different packs with each having a different variety of flavor.
prolly even better if you were able to marinate them overnight

Do what you want man
You're just taking something that takes seconds to cook perfectly and cooking it for hours. That's absurd.

Chill out, billy badass. I'm not busting anyone. Just asking why?
Sous vide has textural and temperature advantages over grill or stove top for a steak or fish. Things that are hard to do one way are precisely done with sous vide.
Shrimp isn't something I'm trying to nail at medium rare or get a certain texture. When it's cooked it's cooked. What is the advantage of sous vide for shrimp?

Jeez, let the man sous vide some shrimp if he wants. I for one am curious to see how it turns out and your reasoning against it is absurd.

People boil shrimp all the time. Do you object to submerging shrimp in water that is less than boiling? If so, why?

I didn't know voicing my opinion made him unable to try it.

Your 5 posts about it are a pretty good indication you're trying to convince him, otherwise. If you think it's silly, state it and move on.

Someone else replied to me and I replied to them. thats how discussion works. Is that not allowed?

I am with you man. This is out of control.
