Stargazer cast iron

I've been wanting a good, antique style finish cast iron pan for a while. I thought I had one lined up from my great great grandma but someone in my family(person to remain unnamed) decided to try and refire and clean it while it was 20 degrees outside and cracked it in half. Anyhoo, read that stargazer was a good call back to the skillets of old and was trying to decide between that and Field.

I have a Field skillet and have been nothing but impressed with it. Would buy one again.

I like the Butter Pat ones. I'll probably get one eventually, maybe the "second best" variant.

I have both the 10.5 and 12 inch Stargazer skillets. They live on my stovetop. I love them. The pour lip around the circumference of the skillet is one of my favorite features and balance between weight/heat retention is perfect.
I've since abandoned all of my Lodge pieces and wouldn't hesitate to buy the Stargazer skillets again.

Stargazer pans look nice, but I'm building my collection from old pieces, refinished. I do have a Lodge griddle, but most everything else appears to be BSRs inherited or picked up at Goodwill, estate sales, and antique stores. There are a lot of older, American-made vintage pieces that aren't as expensive as the trendy Griswolds and Wagner. Just takes a little time to strip and refinish.

Yep,one of my hobbies.
I have very few marked pieces.

Not cast iron, but was recently gifted a Smithy carbon steel and I really like it. Probably a bit heavier than a carbon steel needs to be, but it is nice looking.
