i bought a pack of pita breads yesterday, plan on having one for lunch today. should i refrigerate them after i open it this afternoon or is it okay to keep it out on top of my fridge like normal bread?
i only plan on eating one per week so i won't be opening the pack again for a few days. has a 'best by nov. 5' date on it... don't have much experience with pita bread. TIA

I usually keep them in the refrigerator--sometimes when I buy them I can tell that's where they were stored (even if I get them from someplace like Atcha bakery). I think they last longer that way.
To get them soft again, sprinkle a few drops of water on a paper towel, wrap it around the pita, and microwave for about 10 seconds.
ETA: Pita bread makes really good, easy pizza crusts too.

We buy in bulk from Mona's, keep in freezer, and throw in toaster oven as needed.

freeze it. put pita bread on hot skillet no oil. it will be ready in a minute. buy the pita from any lebanese restaurant not the grocery store. the breads from california i cant think of the name. its 1.50 at alabasha on corporate blvd.

Yep...we've been buying from them since the shop on Banks St. was only a bakery.
My mom gets a phone call when they bake fresh Kaak too.
